Programs that make a positive difference in your child's life!
Social skills development through assigning a lead therapist to address specific behavioral obstacles blocking or stalling progress with your child. Parent can gain tips from our therapists for more effective home transition and continued care.
Independent Living and Life Skills development through 1:1 coaching. Please discuss with camp director for individual program design and pricing. Opportunities for practical skills development would be provided, both on and off camp. Goals for outcomes would be planned with parents. We can provide the type of coaching that can help a child advance beyond present levels. An IEP review and input from current educators is typically helpful. Nurturing care and enrichment programs in a reduced stress environment can produce some great results. Our staffing model maintains excellent safety and health standards.
Academic and functional theories and practices to meet IEP goals for ESY and advance key skills are continuing to be a strong part of our staff training and direct care approaches.
Program design inputs: Universally Designed Curriculum, Theory of Mind, Floortime, Teacch, Turnball's self-determination models, and the potent Syracuse Community-Referenced Curriculum.
New skills acquisition and skills advancement:
We can provide intensive intervention for learning key skills and for progress with current skills; please specify a goal that we can work on at camp and we can evaluate a program design.Master Classes: weekly sessions lead by advanced professionals expose campers to people who have devoted their life to adaptive therapeutic programs, will assist campers with relational/sensory/motor activities that lead to foundational and key skills enjoyment and development.
Some areas of focus: Adaptive Physical Education, Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, Community integration and Literacy Development, Music Therapy, Behavioral observations and coaching.
Academic curriculum within daily programs: certified teachers will lead a portion of daily programs to align with NY State academic standards; your child's school may then be able to authorize IEP satisfaction at camp and financial allocation for their ESY goals. This is not a guarantee for authorization or school funding, and districts often do not allocate funding for camp, but we encourage you to meet with your CSE to evaluate whether some portion of camp tuition may be paid from the allocated from your child's education budget. Our primary program objective for activity content remains: therapeutic recreation aimed at developing social and life skills.
Nutrition and Diet program: we are refining our daily food service to a higher level of healthiness, providing balanced meals with reduced fat and cholesterol, low sugar and adequate protein. Our campus farm plot is growing to provide greater portions of produce for our meals.
Sensory Room improvements through greater therapist involvement and new materials.
