Our well-equipped activity centers provide a wide variety of fun-filled and challenging opportunities for campers. Therapeutic activities are adaptively designed to match the pace and ability of each camper. Positive development is nurtured in a non-competitive atmosphere. In addition to activities listed below, we also feature many special events at camp, such as, out-of-camp trips, birthday celebrations, plays, musical performances and much more.

Ropes Course and Project Adventure

Our 11-element ropes course provides a fun and challenging activity for campers. It combines a 200-foot zip line, spider's web, 4-tire swings, group balancing game, 5 tight-wire runs, and many more. An indoor climbing wall provides great daily exercise and a fun rainy day option.

Swimming

Swimming is one of the most popular activities among campers; we also make it adaptive and instructional. A special buddy system is used to ensure waterfront safety.

Music

Our therapeutic music program awakens the hidden abilities of campers through participation in folk singing, drumming and the playing of various musical instruments and camper-made ones. Campers can find their own musical voice and the opportunity to enjoy self-expression. Many musical styles are featured, from Pop to Hip Hop to Rock to Jazz.

Nature Study and Outdoor Bound Experience

Nature study at our 15-acre Rondout creek preserve is a strong part of our outdoor education program. Geologic wonders and biology and botany observations open up a new world for campers to enjoy. Nature study programs also include gardening, scouting, hiking, picnics, cook-outs fishing and campfires. The Mohonk Mountain Preserve provides another great location for off-camp trips and broader nature studies.

Fabric Arts

In our Fabric Art room, campers will utilize different forms of textiles as a way of self-expression. Projects may include; puppets, mobiles, costumes, masks, pillows.

Sensory Room

A quiet peaceful place where campers can have some time away from the excitement of camp.

Academics

Our academics program provides campers with occupational orientation, consumer economics, communication skills, reading, perceptual training, speech and language skills and behavioral counseling. Careful attention is focused on each camper's needs and fine-tuning our academic program to enhance independent living skills. The individualized activities are based on our assessment, campers' IEP and are remedial in nature.

Art & Crafts

Our Arts & Crafts program encompasses painting, drawing, woodcrafts, ceramics, fabric art and numerous group projects.

Computer Room

New high-speed Internet access allows campers to enjoy the wonders of the web with careful supervision; In addition, they can enjoy computer-assisted learning, graphics and communications.

Expressive Arts

Our spacious social hall features camper talent shows, dances and dramatic performances. Campers will experience interactive and create processes by participating in activities such as; role playing, dancing, puppetry, theatre and group-dynamic games.

Home Economics/Cooking

In the Home Economics facility campers have an opportunity to learn cooking, nutrition education, meal planning and table setting. Campers have the opportunity to create and try new foods.

Horseback Riding

The nearby Nevele Country Club's riding facility hosts our horseback riding program. A former special education teacher runs the ranch. All levels of riding ability are welcomed. Long pants, boots or shoes with heels (1/2 inch minimum) are required. Riding helmets are provided. A walking assistant along the horse's side supervises all novice riders. This activity is an extra cost, please inquire if interested.

Sports

We have a full range of sporting equipment, courts, playgrounds and fields. Non-competitive games are planned. Campers are encouraged and assisted to participate in these sports to the extent of their capabilities: baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, handball, ping pong, badminton, miniature golf, and lawn bowling.
